Who are we??
The Parkinson Research Foundation is a nonprofit health organization providing Parkinson's research, information, and advocacy. The Parkinson Research Foundation, often referred to as PRF is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by the law.
But, I'm sure you really want to know who we are?
Our mission of the organization is to cure Parkinson's and improve the lives of all people affected by the disease. (We feel that it is extremely important to help educate not only the patients, but the families and the caregivers as well. After all Parkinson's disease not only affects the patients, but it significantly affects their families and caregivers. They are burdened and vulnerable mainly because the disease is progressive and the detrimental factors related to the care giving role can often be strenuous and confusing. Why is it confusing? Because we often can fathom what our loved ones are experiencing and we don't understand why it's happened to the people we care about, not to mention we don't understand the disease in it's entirety. This is where the Parkinson Research Foundation comes into play. In order to fulfill our mission, the Parkinson Research Foundation will fund research, publish scientific findings, provide funding for information, and other services to people with Parkinson's, their families, health care professionals, and the public. The foundation also expects to be actively involved in advocating for scientific research and for the rights of people with Parkinson's disease.
How does this happen?
The money raised by the foundation funds research, information programs, and advocacy and awareness efforts that will support the over one million people affected with Parkinson's throughout communities in America. We also focus our efforts on educating patients, families and caregivers on how to maintain and live their life to it's fullest while living with PD. Our education programs include but are not limited to our cruises, conferences, wellness programs, and support groups. Now doesn't this seem like fun, exciting ways to learn?
